About American Online Casinos

An independent editorial team covering legal online gambling options for New Yorkers — what's actually playable, what isn't, what's changing, and why.

Who we are

Best NY Online Casinos is run by a four-person editorial team based across New York City, Albany and the Hudson Valley. We've covered U.S. gambling for a combined twenty-plus years across publications you've probably read: Sports Illustrated, The Athletic, The Action Network, Covers, regional outlets and industry trade press. Two of our writers hold NY-specific gaming-industry credentials, and our compliance editor previously worked in the legal department of a regulated NJ casino operator.

We started this site in 2026 because most of the existing "best New York online casinos" pages were stale, wrong, or knowingly steering readers toward offshore operators after Senate Bill 5935A reshaped the legal landscape in December 2025. The market needed an editorial outlet that would actually read the law, test the operators, and tell New Yorkers the truth — even when that truth is uncomfortable. That's what we do.

What we cover

  • Legal online casino-style gambling in NY: parimutuel-powered platforms (Horseplay, GiddyUp, Card Crush) — the actual real-money online casino category that remains legal in New York post-S5935A.
  • NY mobile sports betting: the nine licensed operators, current promos, market analysis.
  • NY iLottery and DFS: draw subscriptions, courier services, and Daily Fantasy products.
  • Legislative tracking: live coverage of S2614 (iGaming), S5935A (sweepstakes ban), and any future bills affecting NY online gambling.
  • Responsible gambling: NY-specific resources, the HOPEline, OASAS, NCPG, and how to use operator self-exclusion tools.

What we don't do

  • We don't take operator-funded content. No "guest posts" from PR teams. No sponsored reviews. No paid placements in our rankings.
  • We don't recommend offshore real-money casinos. They aren't licensed in NY, they aren't audited, and your funds aren't protected. Telling readers to use them would be malpractice.
  • We don't pretend laws are what they aren't. Several competitor sites still recommend McLuck, Chumba and Pulsz to NY readers — those operators exited the state after S5935A. We won't pretend otherwise to keep an affiliate commission alive.
  • We don't use AI to generate reviews. AI tools help with grammar and fact-checking; the substance of every review comes from a named writer who tested the platform with their own money.

How we make money

We're an affiliate site. When you click a link to a recommended operator and sign up, we may receive a commission. This applies to all three of our top-ranked NY operators (Horseplay, GiddyUp, Card Crush) and to most of the NY sportsbooks we cover. Three things to know about this:

  1. Our rankings are not for sale. Operators that pay higher commissions don't rank higher. We've turned down higher-commission deals from operators that didn't meet our quality bar — and we've recommended operators that pay us less because they were the right answer.
  2. Commission status is disclosed on every page. See our affiliate disclosure for the FTC-compliant detail.
  3. We're transparent about misses. If we recommend an operator that subsequently fails, we update the review and explain what changed. We don't quietly remove negative content.

Editorial standards

Every review on this site follows the same 14-day testing protocol, documented on our editorial process page. Every page is reviewed by at least one writer and one editor before publication. Pages that touch on legal, tax or compliance topics are additionally reviewed by our compliance editor.

We commit to:

  • Accuracy first. If we get a fact wrong, we correct it visibly and date the correction.
  • Currency. Every commercial page is reviewed at least monthly. Pages affected by active legislation are reviewed weekly.
  • Independence. No operator gets editorial approval rights over our content. Period.
  • Responsible-gambling primacy. Every commercial page links to RG resources. Every review notes the operator's player-protection tools. We don't hide the helpline.
